Dear Owners and Residents,
We want to make you aware that one of our residents has informed us this morning that they have tested positive for Coronavirus, and that they are and will be self-isolating within their apartment. That means that they and any members within their household will remain fully within their apartment until they are cleared by a medical professional, which generally means a minimum of 14 days. They have agreed they will not leave the unit for the quarantine period unless it is to seek necessary medical help, including not using common areas, including common trash chutes, and mailboxes. Please be advised, as we noted in yesterday’s communication, that the Association will strictly maintain the confidentiality of the name and unit of that individual.
While their self-isolation minimizes the risk of others outside their apartment being exposed to their virus (the NYC DOH states that the spread of COVID-19 from person-to-person over long distances, such as through HVAC systems, has not been shown), it is a reminder that each of us must take concrete steps to minimize the risk of exposure. The Mayor of Key Biscayne recently made a compelling argument for this being a time when we need to come together to minimize the risk not just for ourselves but for all of our community.
All building residents are encouraged to follow the self-monitoring steps outlined in the Centers for Disease Control website at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/risk-assessment.html for the next 14 days:
The Association and Management will continue to take actions in an effort to protect the health and safety of the residents. We continue to exercise diligence in frequently cleaning and sanitizing common area surfaces, particularly the buttons in the elevators. However, it is important that all residents continue to frequently wash their hands, practice social distancing, limit in-person contact with others, and exercise health and safety precautions when coming into contact with the condominium’s common elements.
Thank you for all you are doing to help make all of our residents safer.
Joe Maura
