Dear Residents,

The Towers of Key Biscayne is fortunate that there are no additional reported COVID-19 cases amongst our residents or staff, nor amongst any members of our staff’s families. While this is good news, it is not cause to relax.  We must all double and redouble our efforts minimizing exposure to the virus.

PLEASE STAY OFF THE BEACHES

In support of, and to comply with, the Village and County’s Executive Orders to close all beaches, effective immediately we have closed access to the beach and the Tiki Hut area from the gate near the BBQ area. We have also posted signs and yellow tape on the doors between the garage and the beach to make clear that those doors should ONLY be used in case of fire – they are not to be used for any other purpose. As a result, access to TKB shall be exclusively through the Front Gate.

ONLY ESSENTIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS SHOULD BE INVITED TO YOUR UNIT

We also support the Village’s Executive Order to close Key Biscayne to non-residents, except those who are performing essential services, such as health aides, emergency repairs, or our staff. The Mayor has specifically requested residents to ask their non-essential housekeeping help, whether domestic workers, babysitters, or others, to please not come to Key Biscayne.  As he says, “every person who comes to the Key raises the possibility of spreading COVID-19”. The same is true for off-island friends and visitors.

THE TOWERS IS CONTINUING OUR STEPS TO MINIMIZE RISK OF EXPOSURE

The actions we’ve taken are consistent with the precautions advised by government and medical authorities:

• Our gyms, pools, and common area amenity rooms are closed.
• The cleaning and sanitizing frequency of all the high touch common areas has been significantly increased, especially the elevators in each of the Towers.
• Hand sanitizers are in each of the lobbies, and if we are able to secure sufficient supplies, we will try to make them available in other high traffic areas. We strongly encourage you to use precautions, such as a tissue, when touching an elevator button etc.
• Steps have been taken to decrease the exposure risk to our staff, including modifying schedules in support of social distancing, closing the Office to visitors, and providing distance between our lobby attendants and residents.
• Tables are available at the lobby for food or prescription deliveries for residents who would prefer to avoid deliveries to their units?
• Signage has been posted throughout the building to remind residents of safety precautions. We also encourage residents to access the many available resources on the web, including

SAFETY IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY. The Towers Board, Management and Staff are working hard to make us as safe as possible. The Mayor has said repeatedly, it will ultimately be up to each one of us to keep our community safe. The decisions we each make will impact whether our neighbors are exposed to the virus. Together we can flatten the curve! As we head into these critical weeks, please join us in making the Towers safe for each of us and all of us.
