We want to make you aware that one the contractors who has previously worked in our building has informed us that he has tested positive for Coronavirus, and that he is coordinating with the Florida Dept of Health, including self-isolating within his home. Jonah Carbonell has authorized us to inform you that he was tested recently and confirmed to have COVID-19, most likely from his recent trip to Utah. He has self-quarantined for the last week prior to testing because of cold-like symptoms. The last known date of his having been on TKB property was February 28^th prior to his trip, which is prior to the CDC 14 day incubation period guidance. The CDC and Mr. Carbonell are on a daily calling schedule until he has no symptoms, at which time he will be tested twice consecutively. Until both results return negative he will remain in isolation.

While his thoughtful and prudent decision to self-quarantine minimizes the risk to others, it is a reminder that each of us should take concrete steps to minimize our personal risk of exposure. The Mayor of Key Biscayne recently made a compelling argument for this being a time when we need to come together to minimize the risk not just for ourselves but for all of our community. We encourage you to stay abreast of the CDC guidelines, and strongly recommend basic preventions including

·     Practice “social distancing” and avoid gatherings of large numbers of people

·     Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

·     Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

·     If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

·     Stay home when you are sick. Do not go to the Restaurant or Management Office.

·     If you are sick, notify the office so no personnel will enter your unit.

·     Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

·     If you or someone you know at The Towers has been exposed to or diagnosed with the Coronavirus, follow the CDC guidance and please notify the Management Office so that proper measures can be taken to better protect our community from an outbreak.
