TKB COVID-19 Update April 10

Thank you to all our residents who are taking care of yourselves, and by so doing, are taking care of our community. We have received many helpful suggestions, some of which have been and/or will be incorporated into the actions the Association is taking to protect everyone. We continue to be encouraged that we have only had one resident report testing positive for COVID-19 (and he has now been medically cleared as non-infectious), and none of our staff or their families have reported symptoms of the virus.

 

As the COVID-19 Coronavirus continues to spread, with more reported cases every day, it is important that we remain calm, informed, and prepared to navigate this unprecedented global pandemic. Our goal is to keep you and our staff healthy and safe and to continue providing excellent service. We are taking a host of precautions and making some temporary adjustments at the Towers to meet these goals:

 

NEW STEPS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN THE LAST WEEK:

  • Disinfectant spray has been procured and is available in each of the Towers elevators. This is in addition to the disinfectant that we provide and ask residents and visitors to use upon entry in our lobbies.
  • We are cleaning and disinfecting the stairway doorknobs and railings several times each day.
  • Trash room doorknobs and handles are being sanitized throughout the day.
  • Staff are now wearing facemasks and gloves throughout their shifts.
  • All TKB COVID-19 communications to owners/residents are available on our website.

 

TKB CONTINUES THE STEPS IMPLEMENTED OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS,

including

  • Our team has prioritized cleaning and sanitizing efforts, in accordance with CDC guidelines, to areas that are frequently used, from elevators to doorknobs. This means that other areas may not get the same level of attention you’re used to, however we’ll make every effort to keep things running as normally as possible.
  • All common area amenities, including interior rooms, gyms, pools, tennis courts, BBQ, and access to the beach and gazebo have been closed to protect our residents from the spread of germs, following established guidelines and direction from local authorities.
  • All non-essential work requiring access to units has ceased, including modified procedures of package delivery to units, which are now only left if the resident is home at the time of delivery.
  • The Management Office has transitioned from face-to-face interaction to electronic business, following social distancing guidelines. If you need to contact the office, they can be reached via phone or email.
  • Modified work schedules and procedures have been implemented to decrease the risk to our staff, while ensuring physical on-site presence during business hours

 

STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO MAKE YOU AND OUR COMMUNITY SAFER:

  • The Village has issued Executive Order 20-6, consistent with the latest CDC recommendations, that mandates that face masks are to be worn by customers and employees in essential businesses (e.g. grocery stores, pharmacies), and are encouraged for all persons outside of their homes
  • Follow the CDC guidelines, as well as the recommendations of the Village and other governmental authorities
    • If you have any symptoms, please self-quarantine in your apartment. This is especially critical should you test positive for COVID-19–if that happens, please inform the Management Office so that we can provide anonymous notice to our residents and offer you any assistance we’re able to provide.
    • Residents are encouraged to limit or eliminate having guests, including housecleaning help. Consistent with the Village’s Order to deny non-residents access to the island, this is intended to limit the risk of outsiders exposing you or others to the virus.

 

STAY CURRENT WITH VILLAGE AND COVID-19 INFORMATION:

  • The Village publishes a daily email providing updates on KB COVID information and useful references.
  • Stay current on the Executive Orders issued by the State of Florida, Miami-Dade County and Village of Key Biscayne.
  • Florida Dept of Health provides updated information on COVID-19.

 

We’ll wrap this up with the Public Safety message that the Village has been sending in their daily updates:

Public health is everyone’s responsibility, but you cannot control the actions of others. Only you can protect yourself. We all need to be socially responsible and practice social distancing for the well-being of our entire Village. Remember, the best way to avoid COVID-19 is to avoid exposure. Obey Emergency Orders designed to protect your safety. #KBStayHome: You are safer at home.

EACH of us is responsible for ALL of us. Our personal decisions to practice social distancing and to stay safe at home impact everyone around us. The ultimate success of every attempt to protect our health and safety depends on each of us.
