We are pleased to tell you that the County has announced the reopening the beaches tomorrow. For the immediate future, we will adhere to the rules that were announced on May 28th, including

• access TO the beach shall be available through the Watercraft by using the door near the sink in the BBQ area. The doors to the beach in Towers A & B may also be used
• return FROM the beach shall only be through the gate to the shower (with the shoe racks)
• At least initially, TKB shall not provide chairs or umbrellas at the beach. Residents are welcome to bring their own chairs and umbrellas.
• County rules require anyone using the beach to have a face mask with them and wear that mask anytime they are within 6′ of a non-household member. The County also asserts they will aggressively enforce 6′ social distancing requirements both in the water and on the beach.
• No groups over 10 people.
• No tents are allowed.

Please be reminded that the Village and County have announced their intention to aggressively monitor adherence to their rules.

We also announced earlier today that we are not reopening our gyms at this time, and in response to questions from a few of our residents, I am attaching the county regulations for reopening of commercial gyms which we would need to comply with if we chose to open the gyms. Over a week ago we had started preparing for the reopening of the gyms and had put together a set of guidelines to do so.   Unfortunately due to a number specific requirements established by the County, we have determined that it would be too substantial a burden on the Association to justify opening the gyms under the very restricted availability that would be allowed under those regulations.

Outlined below are some of the primary reasons we have come to that decision:

• Due to the size of our gyms and the number of equipment currently on each of the facility it’s not practical to achieve social distancing with more than 1 or 2 users in the large gym.
• Under the current guidelines we would need to remove approximately 16 pieces of equipment from the big gym. Because we do not have storage space available to house the equipment that will need to be removed, we would have to use the small gym for storage.
• Although the gyms currently have UV lights installed, we would need to reconfigure the HVAC system to utilize outside air which will make the gym hotter and increase humidity which in addition to the comfort problem, could result in a mold problem.
• We would require several additional staff to meet the County imposed requirements to manage scheduling and cleaning/disinfecting requirements.
